Job Description

North Central Utility (NCU) is looking for a self-motivated and results driven Semi-Trailer Body Repair Technician / Auto Body Technician to represent NCU in the semi-trailer service industry.

North Central Utility is one of the largest semi-trailer dealerships in the nation and the largest in the North Central region with 10 locations throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota. We offer reefer, dry van and flatbed trailers from Utility Trailer Manufacturing at all locations and vocational trailers from MAC Trailers in Wisconsin - we sell new and used semi-trailers. With Moore Space, we offer temporary storage container solutions as well. Our parts department has an extensive inventory in Heavy-Duty Truck/Tractor and Trailer parts. Our broad product line and geographic coverage ensures we are a “One Stop Shop” for truck and semi-trailer parts. Our service department offers everything from routine maintenance, certified DOT inspections to precision laser alignment, as well as complete wreck repair for trailers of all makes and models. No job is too big or too small for our skilled service technicians.

This position is a safety sensitive position, requiring pre-employment and post-accident drug testing.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform all aspects of semi-trailer body & wreck repairs

• Maintain established Company quality standards

• Responsible for replacing body parts on reefers, dry vans, and flat bed trailers  

• Perform job assignments in accordance with DOT requirements

• Use and promote PPE and the use of safety equipment

• Perform all types of welding (i.e. - aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel).

• Replace trailer body parts

• Spray and shave foam as needed

• Fabricate or modify trailer body parts

• Maintain allocated time on all repairs and modifications.

• Contribute to the work assignment from acquired experience and knowledge

• Diagnose and make recommendations to manager on repairs as required

• Operate a forklift

• Operate a scissor lift

• All work will be documented – all work processes will be electronically documented in the system

• Willingness to tackle all projects, big and small

• All work will be performed in a professional manner in accordance with Company standards and Industry Best Practices

• Prepared and ready to work at the start of each shift

• All work will be performed in accordance with government laws, regulations, and ordinances

• Helpful and considerate to co-workers and customers.

• Adhere to all Company policies, procedures, and rules of conduct

• Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times

• Supply required tools to perform trailer body repairs (specialty & large tools provided by the Company)

• Dress appropriately (uniforms provided by the Company)

• Perform other duties as assigned

• Assist Service Manager & Shop Foreman as needed

 

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred

• Basic set of tools

• Previous experience preferred

• Computer skills

• High mechanical aptitude

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Welding or fabrication experience preferred

• Forklift & scissor lift experience preferred

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, reach overhead, stoop, squat repetitively and for long periods of time

• Driving is a duty of this job
